Black bear spotted in Fairfax County

WASHINGTON – Don’t be surprised if you see a bear in your bird feeder.

Fairfax County police say they received the year’s first seasonal reports of bear sightings in the area around Tysons Corner and Vienna. Callers Monday reported a medium-sized black bear in a yard near Jarrett Valley Drive and Edgepark Road.

Later, another caller said the bear had torn down a nearby bird feeder.

Animal control officers searched the area, but didn’t locate the bear.
