WASHINGTON – Two men have been shot — and one is dead — in what appears to be an attempted murder-suicide in Northwest, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
The shootings occurred before 6 a.m. Tuesday in the 600 block of Quincy Street in Northwest, not far from the Georgia Avenue Metro station.
Police have not released the identities of the men.
Police say a younger man shot an older man and then turned the gun on himself, police said.
The older man was conscious and breathing when taken to the hospital.
The younger man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
A weapon has been recovered and police are canvassing the neighborhood.
Neighbors say the men have lived in the neighborhood for years.
Police are trying to confirm the relationship between the two.
