WASHINGTON – While $13,500 sounds like an OK price for a used car – what about spending that for a new TV?
That’s the price tag on LG’s 55-inch OLED TV with a curved screen. Consumer Reports says the TVs use organic materials to produce images and colors that really pop on the screen.
With the size and curve of the screen, LG aims to provide an experience similar to IMAX for the home. The TV’s are Ultra HD and have a resolution of 3840×2160. Consumer Reports says the curved, panoramic screen immerses the audience.
Maybe even more surprising for a TV this size, it’s only .17 inches thick and weighs 38 pounds.
According to LG, the TVs will be available in the first half of 2013.
Currently, LG’s sales are plummeting as their TV sales continue to languish.
