WASHINGTON – College students are known to tip a few back every now and then. And, a recent study shows they could be doing more damage to their bodies than they realize, Prevention Magazine reports.
In a study published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, researchers found binge drinkers had relatively impaired circulation, damage similar to the effects of heart disease.
The study compared college students who binge drink six times per month to those who abstain. Binge drinking is defined as at least four drinks within two hours for women and at least five drinks within two hours for men.
Alcohol impacts vascular function. Experts say some of that damage may be reversed with a good diet and exercise.
