UPDATE: Wednesday – 4/17/2013 3:00 a.m.
Police confirm that Rebecca and Cameron Serafin were last seen in the baggage claim area at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, Nevada on Thursday, April 11, around 10 p.m.
They’d been on a Southwest Airlines flight from Birmingham and may be headed to Los Angeles, Calif.
Cameron was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, black and white pajama pants and a gray, train engineer’s type hat. Rebecca Serafin wore what appeared to be a black hat with a dark jacket and blue jeans. She carried two large pieces of luggage.
WASHINGTON – A nationwide search continues for 5-year-old Cameron Serafin, taken from Fairfax County by his mother Rebecca, in what police now say was an abduction.
Cameron was last seen with his mother at the airport in Birmingham, Ala. on April 11.
There is heightened concern about his safety because of his mother’s medical history. Cameron’s father, Joe Sarafin, tells WTOP that she has mental health and substance abuse problems.
Fairfax County police have issued a felony warrant for Rebecca Love Serafin for parental abduction.
The child was supposed to have been returned to his dad on April 11. Joe Serafin tells WTOP his ex-wife has disappeared with their son once before in 2011. The couple shares custody of Cameron. See the previous WTOP reports on the abduction here.

Police are hoping getting the word on out social media, like Twitter and Facebook, will help find Cameron, police Spokesman Don Gotthardt says.
“We’re looking for nationwide coverage and obviously social media is a way to get that done,” Gotthardt.
Rebecca Cameron has altered her appearance and her son’s, police say. Police believe she is using her maiden name, Rebecca Love.
