WASHINGTON – Following the Boston Marathon bombings, people across the country are asking how they can help victims and the city of Boston recover.
A local nonprofit has an option.
Wednesday is Spring2Action Day in Alexandria, Va. It’s a day of giving in the city, and the nonprofit ACT for Alexandria is offering a portion of funds raised to the Boston tragedy.
“Five percent of what we raise, as well as at least 15 other nonprofits, have designated 5 percent of what they raise to go to the Boston Foundation,” says Brandee Yee with ACT for Alexandria.
Yee says the events that occurred in Boston are heartbreaking.
“There are probably so many needs that are pressing right now, but then a lot of needs that will happen or be coming up in the future.”
People can donate on Spring2Action’s website .
