WASHINGTON – The saying goes, “Mom knows best.” But some new research suggests that isn’t always the case.
Until recently, studies suggested that mothers are biologically better at recognizing the cries of their own babies. However, a recent study published in the journal Nature Communications shows that dads who spend four hours or more each day with their kids can pick out which cry belongs to their own child.
The male subjects in study matched the moms’ recognition rate of 90 percent.
Researchers suggest the new development is because dads are increasingly spending more time with their kids.
