WASHINGTON – March 20 is the first day of spring and some people may already be planning summer vacations.
According to Expedia, those who bought their airline tickets in March and April for a Memorial Day weekend getaway last year tended to get better deals than those waiting until May.
Expedia tells the Huffington Post that tickets sold more than 24 days before a trip were less than $400 on average.
Travelers looking ahead to the Fourth of July weekend can get cheaper tickets if they buy five to six weeks in advance. Early May is a good time to start looking.
And, when it comes to Labor Day weekend, it’s best to purchase fares five to six weeks before going away.
