UPPER MARLBORO, Md. – Mourners gathered to remember three sisters and their father who died from a fire at their Glenarden home Feb. 21.
A service for Darrell Price, Jr., 36 and his daughters Daijah, 11, Tania Monae Jeanita, 8, and Patrice, 4, was held at the First Baptist Church of Glenarden in Upper Marlboro Monday. White caskets surrounded by flowers and large photos of the father and his daughters stood at the altar.
Prince George’s County Executive Rushern Baker, firefighters and police officers were among the mourners.
Pastor John Jenkins, Sr. spoke to the gathering of friends and family, saying the lives of the father and girls were taken too quickly.
Officials say the fire was an accident and caused by an electrical problem.
Price and the girls are survived by Teresa Myles-Price, 33, who was the wife of Price and mother of the girls. Teresa Myles-Price and the 8-year-old twin sister of Tania managed to escape the fire when they jumped from a second-floor window.
The two were able to survive because of a family escape plan, according to Prince George’s County firefighter Shawn Croissette, who was one of the responders on the scene.
