Groping in Franconia could be connected to other cases

WASHINGTON – A groping incident in Springfield, Va., may be related to a series of similar crimes, say Franconia Police officers.

A 31-year-old woman was shopping inside a HomeGoods store in Kingstowne Center Thursday at 3 p.m. when she told police a man following her grabbed her in the store. Then he ran off. Several shoppers tried to get the man, but he escaped, according to a police news release.

If this incident is connected to similar crimes in the area, it will be considered the 24th groping in Franconia, police say in the release.

The suspect is described as Hispanic, around 30 years old wearing a black jacket, light colored pants and a black hat.
