Dogs have always been called man’s best friends, but now owners are starting to name them in this fashion.
The most popular puppy names of 2012 took on human form, according to a study by the veterinarian and animal health website Vetstreet.com. Many names on the most popular puppy name list include human names such as Max, Lucy, Charlie, Sadie, Jack, Maggie or Chloe.
Not only are owners naming their dogs after their next-of-kin, but pop culture is also taking a part in the naming of pets.
The number one female dog name since 2006 is Bella, which happens to be the name of the heroine of the popular teen vampire saga “Twilight.” The seventh-most popular male dog name is Bentley, which is the name of “Teen Mom” star Maci Bookout’s baby boy.
