WASHINGTON – There could be bad news for President Barack Obama’s reelection campaign as reports surface that a national news service is preparing to break a donor scandal, the Washington Examiner reports.
According to sources the Examiner refers to as knowledgeable, the Obama campaign has tried to block the release but the news service, a national magazine or web site, will publish the story Friday or Monday.
The source says a taxpayer watchdog group investigated the campaign for nine months and found thousands of cases of credit card solicitations and donations to Obama and Capitol Hill from unsecure accounts – many overseas.
If true, this could violate federal election laws.
