Va., Md. firefighters to gather for 9/11 ‘Memorial Stair Climb’

WASHINGTON – During the month of September, fire service members around the country will climb 110 stories in tribute to the firefighters who lost their lives on 9/11.

Locally, groups will gather in Virginia and Maryland to honor and remember the 343 FDNY firefighters who died that day.

In Maryland, an honorary climb will take place at the Gaylord Hotel at National Harbor in Prince George’s County on Sept. 8. Members of the public are invited to join firefighters during the climb, but must register

In Virginia, honorary climbs will be held Sept. 9 in Richmond and Sept. 16 in Manassas at Sudley Tower. Register for the Manassas climb “>link.
