WASHINGTON – Professional soccer could be coming to Loudoun County.
A minor-league team in the North American Soccer League is on the verge of being awarded to Loudoun, according to The Washington Post.
NASL Commissioner David Downs met a week ago with Virginia Investment Partnership, the group that proposes basing the team in Loudoun.
The group owns the minor league baseball team, the Loudoun Hounds.
The two teams would share a Loudoun stadium that has yet to be built and would start playing in 2014, the Post reports.
The stadium would be built as part of a mixed-use development across from the Dulles Town Center.
