WASHINGTON – Finding a good job is tough in a recovering economy, but one study shows D.C. leads the nation in good cities for Millenials.
Payscale compares D.C. with places like Boston, Philadelphia, Houston and Seattle as cities well suited for young professionals based on salary.
Millenials, who are also referred to as Gen Y, fall into the age range of 18 to 29 years old.
The study factored in high median salaries and wage growth as reasons that make these cities better suited for Millenials than others.
“Not only do those fields pay really well, but they also tend to hire students out of school,” PayScale economist Katie Bardaro tells Forbes.
Washington falls at No. 4 on the list for its median wage of $49,000 and 26 percent share of Gen Y workers.
Here’s the list of top cities for Millenials to work:
- Seattle
- Houston
- Minneapolis
- Washington, D.C.
- Boston
- Dallas
- New York
- Tampa, Fl.
- Philadelphia
- San Francisco
