WASHINGTON – As summer wears on, even the Department of Public Works is trying to beat the heat.
On Thursday and Friday, July 26-27, DPW crews will collect trash and recycling at 6 a.m. in D.C. due to predicted temperatures of over 90 degrees on both days.
Residents are advised to leave their trash and recycling the evening before, rather than the morning of collection day. All empty containers need to be removed from public space by 8:30 p.m.
This earlier collection time will continue throughout the summer when the air quality is unhealthy or temperatures topping 90 degrees are announced. This is to protect workers from any environmental or health issues.
