WASHINGTON – The Maryland Transportation Authority planned to hold traffic on the William Preston Lane Jr. Memorial Bridge, better known as the Bay Bridge, at approximately 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, for about 40 minutes.

Marine vessel Zhen Hua 13 carrying four, 14-story cranes passed beneath the bridge, which MDTA closed because of concerns that curiosity would distract drivers.

Track the ship’s progress at this link. Select only “Yachts & Others” and “Ships Underway” in the column at left, then zoom in on the Chesapeake Bay to find the Zhen Hua 13 represented by a magenta arrow.

The cranes are the largest of their kind in the maritime industry and will be delivered to the Port of Baltimore as part of a new 50-foot container berth at the Seagirt Marine terminal.

Traffic will also be held on the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore around 3:15 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes.
