WASHINGTON – Forget “The Avengers” — Batman is back.
With the superhero ensemble flick set to hit U.S. theaters this week, director Christopher Nolan is stealing at least some of the thunder online with a new trailer for “The Dark Knight Rises.”
In what is the third and likely final preview of the July 20 film, Batman (Christian Bale) and Catwoman (Anne Hathaway) are allies and the Dark Knight hints at martyrdom as he battles the villain Bane, who refers to himself as “Gotham’s reckoning.”
The trailer reportedly will be shown along with “The Avengers” in theaters.
