WASHINGTON – In the words of Ron Burgundy:
“Ladies and gentlemen, can I please have your attention. I’ve just been handed an urgent and horrifying news story. I need all of you, to stop what you’re doing and listen.”
A poster for the much-anticipated sequel to the 2004 movie, “Anchorman,” is stirring excitement among fans of the swashbuckling newsperson. Even more exciting is the fact that a trailer to the movie is now playing before screenings of Sacha Baron Cohen’s “The Dictator.”
Entertainment Weekly reports the one-minute clip seems to indicate the official title of the new film is “Anchorman: The Legend Continues.”
The news is so big, Burgundy himself took a break from drinking his “scotchy, scotch, scotch, scotch” to make the announcement on Twitter:
On Twirtter to say the A2 teaser is in theaters tonight with Dictator. Done. Now having a Cutty Sark & watching McCloud twitter.com/RonBurgundy/st

The same day, Anchorman director Adam McKay also took to his Twitter account with a more cryptic message:
See the Dictator (I worked on it and it’s crazy funny), in addition to Campaign trailer with Zach and Will there’s another treat before it.

Burgundy made the original announcement about the sequel in late March, when he appeared on Conan O’Brien’s talk show.
“I want to announce this to everyone here in the Americas — to our friends in Spain, Turkey and the U.K., including England — that as of 0-900 Mountain Time, Paramount Pictures and myself, Ronald Joseph Aaron Burgundy, have come to terms on a sequel to ‘Anchorman,'” Burgundy said, before launching into a flute performance with Conan O’Brien’s band.
