WASHINGTON – Military training flights that were scheduled for Wednesday morning, May 23 have been rescheduled for the morning of May 24 in the D.C. area.
The North American Aerospace Defense Command, NORAD, says the flights are scheduled early Thursday from 3 to 5 a.m. Civil Air Patrol aircraft, a Coast Guard helicopter and Air Force F-16 fighter jets will take part in the training exercise.
The training is meant to test intercept and identification operations.
Since 9/11 NORAD has done this type of training periodically throughout Canada and the U.S.
