The National Institutes of Health is shedding about 57,600 square feet in Bethesda as part of a lease renewal brokered by the General Services Administration.
As Citybizlist.com reported Monday, the GSA signed a lease for NIH’s Center for Information Technology at The Atrium at Rock Spring Park. The agency will be leasing 99,583 square feet in the building at 10401 Fernwood Road for the next dozen years. The agency will be paying a base rent of $30.75.
The NIH had been leasing 157,187 square feet in the same building for both its Center for Information Technology as well as its National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. That part of NIH is moving to a 490,998-square-foot space at 5601 Fishers Lane in Rockville.
Back at 10401 Fernwood Road and the lease renewal, Merrill Turnbull and Eugene Smith of Lincoln Property Co. represented landlords Meritage Properties and GoldenTree Insite Partners. Howard Traul of Jones Lang LaSalle represented the GSA.
