WASHINGTON – Gary Giordano, the Maryland man held for four months in the presumed death of his traveling companion in Aruba, was arrested last week for indecent exposure in Annapolis.
Giordano, 51, was found completely nude inside of a Cadillac Escalade with a woman from Tennessee, who was partially clothed.
Police officers found the couple in the rear cargo area of the vehicle partially covered by a blanket, on top of a mattress, but clearly not wearing any clothing, the police report says.
An employee of the parking garage, located in the 100 block of Gorman Street where the Cadillac was parked, had called police to report the possible sexual activity. He told police that two passers by had complained about the couple.
Both Giardano and Carol Bock were arrested. Both were charged with indecent exposure.
Annapolis Police Chief Michael Pristoop released the following statement:
“While we recognize that Mr. Giordano enjoys an infamous reputation, the Annapolis arrest was simply a matter of effective police work in response to citizen complaints. Officers took quick and appropriate action under the circumstances. Indecent exposure and other offensive conduct are intolerable, and the Annapolis Police Department will enforce the law.”
Giardano was held in Aruba for four months in 2011 for possible involvement in the suspicious disappearance of Robyn Gardner, a 35-year-old from Frederick, Md.
The employment agency owner from Gaithersburg was jailed Aug. 5, 2011 while investigators sought more time to gather and evaluate evidence in the death of Gardner.
Shortly after returning to the states, Giordano denied any involvement in the disappearance on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”
Giordano maintains that Gardner was swept out to sea while the pair were snorkeling. Her body was never found.
Investigators called Giordano’s behavior following Gardner’s disappearance suspicious, including the fact that he took out a $1.5 million accidental death policy on Gardner.
