Washington area has RG3 fever, wants gear to match

WASHINGTON – Now that Robert Griffin III is a Redskin, many fans are hunting for ‘RG3’ gear.

“The excitement here – you can feel it,” said Ryan Poppe, general manager of retail for the Redskins. “It’s palpable.”

RG3 gear is available at all Redskins team stores around town, including the Redskins Hall of Fame store at FedEx Field in Prince George’s County. It’s also sold online by places like NFLShop.com and Dicks Sporting Goods.

This year’s NFL jerseys are different from last year’s. They’re made by Nike and Poppe says they have a slimmer fit with a higher-quality material.

“They’re about 30 percent lighter,” Poppe said. “They’re a performance-based jersey.”

The Redskins are holding another free Draft party at FedEx Field today from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
