There is a new Spanish tapas joint in town, this one by way of New York.
After signing a lease last summer, Boqueria has opened at 1837 M St. NW south of Dupont Circle. The tapas restaurant, which has multiple Manhattan locations, is adjacent to another new restaurant, Irish Whiskey.
Boqueria occupies 5,331 square feet. The bar definitely has the feel of a Spainish-style tapas restaurant due to the large amount of standing-room-only space. Menu items include croquetas, boquadillo sandwiches and seafood dishes such as seared octopus.
You can get a look at the space by clicking through the photos on the right, from Wednesday evening’s opening reception.
