WASHINGTON – NC State vs. Houston in 1983. Michael Jordan over Craig Ehlo in 1989.
Cal Poly Pomona vs. Cal State Dominguez Hills in 2012.
That last matchup may be new to the pantheon of buzzer-beating basketball finishes, but it also might be one for the ages.
A recent game between the two NCAA Division II schools went to double overtime before going down to the very last wire. After a 3-pointer hit by a Cal Poly player put the Broncos up by two with 8.7 seconds left to play, Dominguez Hills takes a timeout and strikes back with a trey of its own.
Then, with under a second to go… Well, we’ll just let you watch the ending for yourself. (Note: Don’t be deterred by the roughly two-minute timeout in the midst of the clip. Skip ahead to about the 2:30 mark.)
