WASHINGTON – “Wheel of Fortune” was apparently a little tipsy in its early years.
Host Pat Sajak now admits he hosted the popular show while he was drunk, according to the Huffington Post.
Sajak says the format of the show was much different in the early years, and the dinner breaks would be two hours long as the set was changed.
Sajak and Vanna White used to go to a Mexican restaurant and knock back a few margaritas during breaks in the show’s taping, he said.
“They served great margaritas, so Vanna and I would go across and have two or three or six. Those are really good tapes to get hold of,” Sajak told Dan Le Batard of “Dan Le Batard is Highly Questionable.”
That made it a little tougher to recognize the alphabet, the popular game show host said.
“I had a great time,” he said.
But Sajak also tells Dan Le Batard of “Dan Le Batard is Highly Questionable” that he’d never drink during a show now.
