WASHINGTON – Their critics thought there were so many good games this year, they couldn’t limit the list to 10. So Wired, Wired.com and Ars Technica compiled the “20 Best Videogames of 2011,” giving the top spot to “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.”
Many of the decisions were based on glitches and clunky interfaces, but some were purely judgment calls.
For instance, one judge wanted to put “L.A. Noire” on the “most disappointing” list. Instead, it scored fifth among the best.

The editors also scored nine games the “most disappointing” of the year. “Duke Nukem Forever” led (if that’s the right word) the list, in what the critics called a disappointing return from the 1990s.
