Dallas Cowboys found to be America’s least favorite team

WASHINGTON – The Dallas Cowboys may call themselves “America’s Team,” but a new poll finds that they are actually the least popular football team in the country.

But Redskins fans probably didn’t need a poll to tell them that.

The poll from Public Policy Polling shows that 22 percent say Dallas is their least favorite team. Compared to 11 percent for the Bears, 8 percent for the Packers, 7 percent for the Pats and Redskins, 6 percent for the Steelers, 4 percent for both the Giants and Jets and 1 percent for the Saints.

The Green Bay Packers deserved the “America’s Team” moniker, with 22 percent saying the Packers are their favorite team.

The Cowboys came in second with 11 percent, followed by a tie between the Bears, Giants and Steelers with 8 percent, the Saints with 7 percent, the Patriots with 6 percent, the Redskins with 4 percent and the Jets with 2 percent. 24 percent say they another favorite team or they don’t have a favorite.

In a head-to-head match up between the Packers and the Cowboys, 49 percent of American voters say they like Green Bay more, and only 28 percent prefer Dallas.

The poll also asked about favorite quarterbacks. Read the full results here.

The poll was conducted by automated phone calls of 700 American voters between Dec. 16 and Dec. 18. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.7 percent.
