WASHINGTON — The FBI may be looking to relocate its headquarters and one local official is pushing for a move out of the city and across the river.
Currenty, the FBI is headquartered on the 900 block of Pennsylvania Avenue where officials say conditions are poor. Rushern Baker, Prince George’s county executive, would like to see the bureau move to his county.
“I think if you look at Branch Avenue, that’s a perfect place with joint base Andrews there,” he says.
Bakers push is part of an effort to spur growth around underdeveloped Metro sites.
“Largo-Morgan Boulevard, New Carolton, Greenbelt, we have got some really great sites out in Prince George’s County, that one, have the land capacity they are looking for,” he says.
These sites also provide good metro connections to other federal agencies, Baker says.
Baker spoke with WTOP’s Mark Plotkin on the politics program this week, saying that spurring growth around these underdeveloped metro sites is a priority for the county.
