WASHINGTON – It turns out being a Victoria’s Secret model can be very, very challenging.
One of the Angels, speaking with the U.K. Telegraph, shared her diet secrets leading up to the annual multi-million dollar Victoria’s Secret fashion show, typically watched by eight million people.
Adriana Lima doesn’t just count on good genes and a naturally fast metabolism to keep her body in top shape.
Lima tells the Telegraph that she has been working out every day with a personal trainer since August. And, for the last three weeks, she’s been working out twice a day.
“It is really intense, it’s not really the amount of time you spend working out, it’s the intensity: I jump rope, I do boxing, I lift weights, but I get bored doing that. If I am not moving I get bored very easily,” Lima tells the Telegraph.
A nutritionist has measured her body muscle mass, fat ratio and levels of water retention. He prescribes protein shakes, vitamins and supplements.
She has been drinking a gallon of water a day.
For the nine days before the show, which is filmed Nov. 9 and airs on CBS Nov. 29, Lima has been drinking only protein shakes and has had no solids.
Two days before the show, she stopped drinking a gallon of water a day and drank normally. And, 12 hours before the show she will stop drinking all together.
British fashion editor Sophia Neophitou tells the Telegraph, “They are athletes in this environment – it’s harder to be a Victoria’s Secret model because no one can just chuck an outfit on you, and hide your lumps and bumps.”
