Grossman will start against Dolphins

WASHINGTON – Rex Grossman is once again the starting quarterback for the Redskins, after being replaced by John Beck four weeks ago by coach Mike Shanahan.

Beck took over for Grossman after the ‘Skins lost to the Eagles in October, and last week Shanahan said that he would be sticking with Beck.

Former Redskin Dexter Manley praised the decision to put Grossman back as the starter, telling WTOP, “John Beck probably couldn’t quarterback at George Mason [University].”

Beck went 0-3 in three starts, threw four interceptions and was sacked 15 times.

Earlier this week, the Washington Post reported that Grossman and Beck were splitting first-team snaps this past week.

Beck was drafted by the Dolphins in 2007, and says he doesn’t have any fond memories of playing there.

Beck’s career record is 0-9, including 0-7 as a starter. He’s struggled since replacing Rex Grossman three weeks ago. He has two touchdown passes, four interceptions and 15 sacks, and his 72.1 passer rating is second-worst in the NFC, ahead of only Grossman.

The injury-plagued Redskins have scored 31 points in the three games started by Beck. They haven’t held a lead since Oct. 2.

The Redskins are trying to break a four-game losing streak.
