WHAT’S AT STAKE?

Oregon hopes to extend its winning streak to five games, but more importantly, tries to stay in the hunt for the Pac-12 Championship Game and College Football Playoff. Arizona State’s played much better after a rough start to the season, winning two of its past three games, beating Washington State and UCLA while losing to Utah.

KEY MATCHUP

Oregon QB Bo Nix vs. Arizona State’s defense. Nix is in the mix for the Heisman Trophy consideration after a stellar fifth season that’s included 3,135 yards passing, 29 touchdowns and just two interceptions while completing nearly 78% of his passes. Arizona State’s defense should provide a solid test. The Sun Devils currently rank third in the Pac-12 in pass defense.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Oregon: RB Bucky Irving could hit 1,000 yards rushing this season with 71 on the ground vs. the Sun Devils. He had one of his best games of the season last week against USC, running for 118 yards on 19 carries. He also caught five passes for 43 yards.

Arizona State: RB Cam Skattebo did a little bit of everything in last week’s win over UCLA. He ran for 61 yards and a touchdown. threw a 25-yard touchdown pass, caught three passes and even punted once for 50 yards.

Nix could climb all the way to No. 9 on the NCAA’s career passing list on Saturday. He’s currently No. 12, but could leapfrog Rakeem Cato (Marshall), Colt Brennan (Hawaii) and Dillon Gabriel (Oklahoma) with a 300-yard game. … Oregon leads the nation with the fewest turnovers (4) and fewest sacks allowed (4). … WR Troy Franklin needs 91 yards receiving on Saturday to break Oregon’s single-season mark of 1,184 yards. … Arizona State beat a nationally-ranked Oregon team in Tempe in both 2017 and 2019. … Sun Devils DL B.J. Green has 50 quarterback pressures this season, which is fifth in FBS. He’s fourth in the country with 11 quarterback hits.
