WASHINGTON — Like many Stanford graduates, presidential candidate Carly Fiorina had a rooting interest in Friday’s Rose Bowl. Her choice, though, left many shaking their heads.
In the hours leading up to the 102nd Rose Bowl between Stanford and Iowa, Fiorina tweeted that she was putting her support behind Iowa.
Love my alma mater, but rooting for a Hawkeyes win today. #RoseBowl

Granted, Fiorina has incentive to make friends in the Hawkeye state with the Iowa Republican Presidential Caucus scheduled for Feb. 1 (Fiorina is polling at 3 percent in the latest Gravis poll), but rooting against one’s alma mater may not be the way to go.
