Benson’s 16 lead Binghamton past UMBC 72-71

BALTIMORE (AP) — Nehemiah Benson’s 16 points helped Binghamton defeat UMBC 72-71 on Tuesday night.

Binghamton closed the game with a 22-11 run and sealed it when Max Lorca-Lloyd missed the second of two free throws with 0.8 left. Gavin Walsh’s free throw with 24 seconds left gave Binghamton a 72-70 lead.

Benson also added five rebounds for the Bearcats (15-14, 7-9 America East Conference). Armon Harried and Tymu Chenery each scored 15 points.

The Retrievers (11-20, 6-10) were led in scoring by Dion Brown, who finished with 24 points, nine rebounds and four blocks. UMBC also got 19 points from Marcus Banks. Anthony Valentine had nine points, six rebounds and two steals.
