HOUSTON (AP) — Jeremiah Kendall had 27 points and Alcorn State scored the final eight points to rally for an 82-79 victory over Texas Southern on Monday night, running its win streak to seven in a row.
Kendall also grabbed eight rebounds for the Braves (12-17, 11-5 Southwestern Athletic Conference). Dekedran Thorn added 11 points and Jeremiah Gambrell scored 10.
Byron Joshua and Kendall hit jumpers to give Alcorn State an 80-79 lead with 11 seconds left. Gambrell began the late 8-0 run with a pair of free throws with 1:37 remaining. Thorn hit two foul shots with two seconds left to end the spurt.
Jonathan Cisse hit eight 3-pointers and scored 36 — both career highs — to lead the Tigers (13-15, 11-6). Deon Stroud added 11 points and Kenny Hunter pitched in with eight points and three blocks.
