Morrison helps No. 25 Georgia women beat Alabama 83-76 in OT

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Que Morrison scored 19 of her career-high 25 points after the first half and No. 25 Georgia beat Alabama 83-76 in overtime on Thursday night.

Morrison grabbed eight rebounds and made 8 of 13 shots from the field and 9 of 10 from the foul line. She scored the first four points of overtime and the Bulldogs (14-4, 6-4 SEC) never trailed from there. Morrison finished with eight points in the extra period.

It was the fifth time Alabama and Georgia have gone to overtime in their last seven games with the Bulldogs winning all five.

Jasmine Walker had 24 points and 12 rebounds for the Crimson Tide (12-5, 5-5). Walker scored five points during Alabama’s 11-1 run that ended with a 69-67 lead with 2:27 left in the fourth quarter. Morrison tied it at 69 on a layup with 2:11 left and both teams went scoreless for the rest of regulation.

Jenna Staiti added 15 points and nine rebounds, and Maya Caldwell scored 13 points for Georgia.

Alabama’s Ariyah Copeland fouled out with 3:58 left in overtime, finishing with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Destiny Rice added a career-high 12 points and Jordan Lewis scored 10.

Alabama opened the game with an 8-0 run and Georgia led 66-58 in the middle of the fourth quarter — each team’s largest lead of the game.
