WASHINGTON — Just in time for Discovery Channel’s “Shark Week,” the first great white shark was tagged off the coast of Cape Cod in Massachusetts on Monday.
The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy saw the 13-foot female, named Avery, off Chatham, according to CBS Boston.

This follows a string of recent shark-related news. A 13-year-old girl was injured in June after a shark bit her boogie board off the North Carolina coast. Two hammerhead sharks were spotted in Ocean City in late June.
