WASHINGTON — It was 30 years ago today — July 13, 1985 — that a panoply of acts took the stages at London’s Wembley Stadium and Philadelphia’s JFK Stadium for Live Aid. It was the extension of Boomtown Rats singer Bob Geldof’s Band Aid effort for African famine relief, which began the previous Christmas with the charity single “Do They Know It’s Christmas?”
Scroll through photos of the event, marvel at the size of it all, and the huge array of talent.
Videos of some of the musical highlights are sprinkled in too — click, remember and enjoy!
