International Cat Video Festival coming to AFI Silver Theatre

WASHINGTON — The popular International Cat Video Festival is coming to the Silver Spring’s AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center.

For the first time, the annual festival, curated and produced by the Walker Art Center, will be held in the Washington area, Thursday,  Nov. 12, and Sunday, Nov. 15.

Audience members will watch the festival’s 2015 reel, including what organizers call “75 minutes of the Internet’s best cat videos,” ranging from cellphone-captured clips to short works of cinematic art.

After the viewing festival curator Will Braden — creator of the “Henri, Le Chat Noir” films — will host a Q&A session.

The event is being sponsored by Alley Cat Allies, an advocacy group dedicated to the protection and humane treatment of cats, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
