WASHINGTON — Detectives have charged three juveniles in connection with two armed robberies carried out in Montgomery Village in Maryland on Feb. 15.
Sixteen-year-old Johntae S. Blue of Germantown, Kobe A. Hunter, a 17-year-old of Rockville, and a 15-year-old Germantown male were identified following a short police investigation.
Blue and Hunter were charged as adults for the armed robberies, according to Montgomery County police.
The first robbery happened on Feb. 15 at around 9 p.m. when 6th District officers responded to reports of an armed robbery in the area of Stedwick Road and Watkins Mill Road.
A man was approached by two suspects who threatened him with a handgun and demanded property. The suspects fled after stealing the victim’s phone.
A short time later, a woman contacted police to report that she was in the parking lot of the Montgomery Village Shopping Center located at 19100 Montgomery Village Avenue when she was confronted by three suspects as she got out of her vehicle.
One suspect threatened her with a handgun and demanded property. The suspects stole the victim’s purse and fled the scene.
Detectives found Blue and the 15-year-old male on Feb.16 in the area of Lost Knife Circle and Odendhall Avenue in Gaithersburg and arrested them for the armed robberies. A day later, investigators arrested Hunter in Rockville.
Blue and Hunter are currently being held without bond at the Montgomery County Detention Center.
The 15-year-old was charged as a juvenile with two counts of armed robbery and detained by the Department of Juvenile Services.
