WASHINGTON — Police are searching for two men who took over and robbed a Brinks truck in the middle of the day on Oct. 25 in Takoma Park, Maryland.
Baltimore FBI and Takoma Park police responded to reports of an armed robbery at 11:56 a.m. on Oct. 25 in the 6900 block of Laurel Avenue in Takoma Park. A Brinks truck had been preparing to deliver U.S. currency to a SunTrust Bank when two men with assault rifles approached, police said in a news release.
The men took the U.S. currency from the Brinks truck armed guard and fled in a vehicle down Carroll Avenue and then right on Westmoreland Avenue, police said.
Witnesses said the suspects were both thin black men who were about 6 feet tall and wearing painter-style suits and gloves. Their vehicle was a maroon 4-door sedan, possibly a Lexus 350, with temporary tags, witnesses said.
The Brinks truck guard was not injured, police said.
Baltimore FBI and Takoma Park police are jointly investigating the armed robbery. They ask anyone who may know anything about the robbery to call either 410-265-9090 or 301-270-1100 and refer to case #16054908. They are offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest.
