WASHINGTON — Will Ferrell has something of a history with sports. He’s played athletes on the big screen in everything from semipro basketball to NASCAR racing to figure skating. But on Thursday, he took on a much more genuine athletic endeavor.

As part of a stunt for an upcoming HBO/Funny or Die special, Farrell partnered with Major League Baseball to play all 10 positions on 10 teams in five Spring Training games, all in the same day.

The exercise wasn’t entirely self-serving. The idea was spawned as an homage to former big leaguer Bert Campaneris, who once played all nine field positions in one game. And the endeavor raised money for the Cancer for College charity. Click through the gallery to follow Ferrell’s journey around Arizona.
