New members of Chesapeake Conservation Corps to be announced

EDGEWATER, Md. (AP) — New members of the Chesapeake Conservation Corps are being announced.

The Chesapeake Bay Trust is announcing 42 new participants in the program on Tuesday in Edgewater. They will spend the next year working to improve the environment and local communities.

The program provides career and leadership training for young people interested in environmental careers.

It matches people between the ages of 18 and 25 with organizations for a one-year term of service where they gain experience in conservation, energy efficiency, education and community outreach.

The program was created by the Maryland General Assembly in 2010.
