WASHINGTON — A District Heights, Maryland man has been indicted by a federal grand jury on second degree murder charges stemming from a fatal March 20 crash.
Anthony Lamont Payne, 27, is charged with killing Terrance Lagrue, age 19, in a crash on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. Payne turned himself in to U.S. Park Police in D.C. on April 28.
At the time of the crash, NBC Washington reported that Lagrue’s Mustang was run off the road before it rolled and caught on fire. He died at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle, a Lincoln sedan, fled the scene, according to witnesses.
Lagrue graduated from Blake High School and attended Bowie State University.
Payne faces a maximum of life in prison if convicted. His next court date is set for April 30.
