WASHINGTON — A Metro worker was shocked by the electrified third rail Wednesday afternoon, but is expected to survive.
Metro said the worker was carrying a metal rod on the tracks between the Fort Totten and West Hyattsville stations when the rod touched the electrified third rail.
A second worker was hurt while attempting to help.
Both workers were taken to the hospital, but are expected to survive.
Metro said in a statement the incident is under investigation.
