WASHINGTON — Riders can expect some crowding Wednesday morning, as three of MARC’s Penn Line trains are expected to operate with one fewer railcar than usual, according to the Maryland Transit Administration.
The MTA did not identify the exact reason for the change, but advised riders to expect crowded conditions.
The following trains will be impacted Wednesday:
- Train 409 (6:13am departure from Penn Station)
- Train 517 (6:30am departure from Perryville / 7:15am from Penn Station)
- Train 421 (8:10am departure from Penn Station)
Tuesday night, service on MARC’s Penn Line was restored around 9:30 p.m. after lengthy delays earlier in the evening.

Service was disrupted around 5:30 p.m. after a person was hit and killed by a train along the tracks in Northeast Washington.
At one point, Amtrak service was suspended between D.C. and Baltimore. That was restored around 8 p.m.
No additional information has been released about the incident, and it is unclear if it is connected to Wednesday morning’s railcar changes.
