WASHINGTON — He may have a scary name, but the newest rescue at City Wildlife is pretty cute.
An injured eastern screech-owl was found inside the fishing cat exhibit at the National Zoo over the weekend and taken to City Wildlife. Though it’s not clear how he was hurt, veterinarians at the rescue say he’s on the mend and started eating insects Thursday.
City Wildlife made headlines last year when it rescued a rare snowy owl that was hit by a bus. The rescue rehabilitated the bird before handing her over to the University of Minnesota’s Raptor Center.
