Elrich remains winner after recount in Montgomery Co. exec race

WASHINGTON — A recount in the Democratic primary race for Montgomery County Executive is finished, and councilmember Marc Elrich remains the winner.

Businessman David Blair asked for a partial recount after Elrich defeated him in the June 26 contest by just 79 votes.

Blair asked for a recount of all provisional and absentee ballots, along with recounts in two precincts.

Blair picked up two votes, making the final number of votes that Elrich won by a total of 77.

Elrich will face Republican Robin Ficker in the November general election.

County councilmember Nancy Floreen, a Democrat turned Independent, is trying to gather enough signatures to get on the November ballot as well.
