Mark your calendars: Important dates for local primary elections

WASHINGTON — Don’t let deadlines catch you off-guard: Primary voting season is underway in Virginia, D.C. and Maryland, and these are the dates you need to know.

Virginia’s primary is Tuesday, June 12.

  • Deadline to request an absentee ballot: Tuesday, June 5 at 5 p.m.
  • Deadline for in-person absentee voting: through Saturday, June 9.

D.C.’s primary election is Tuesday, June 19.

  • Early voting: June 8 until June 15, including Sundays.

Maryland’s primary election is Tuesday, June 26.

  • Online voter registration deadline: Tuesday, June 5 at 9 p.m.
  • Early voting: Thursday, June 14 until Thursday, June 21, between 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
