Free advice on dealing with toxic relationships

WASHINGTON — Do interactions with some of your loved ones leave you feeling drained, misunderstood, judged, betrayed, or all of the above? You might need a relationship upgrade.

“A toxic relationship is a relationship that is unhealthy, draining and potentially even destructive,” relationship expert Andrea Syrtash, author of “Cheat on Your Husband (With Your Husband),” told WTOP’s Dimitri Sotis on Tuesday. She and fellow author and expert Karen Salmansohn are offering a free webinar they say will improve a range of relationships — from romantic and family connections to friendships.

Syrtash and Salmansohn will offer advice on how to identify toxic relationships.

“We tend to think in terms of breaking up with lovers, but actually sometimes we need to break up with friends too — even sometimes family members, and work people,” says Salmansohn, author of Prince Harming Syndrome.

Syrtash also says those who join in can expect to find support and leave the webinar with tools to help them determine whether they need to manage a toxic relationship or terminate it.

“You will leave the free call with an action plan for what to do to upgrade your relationships and upgrade your life,” Syrtash says.

The one-hour webinar No More Toxic Relationships will be held March 13 at 3 p.m. EDT.
